Pocomo

Located at the northeastern tip of Nantucket and perched on an elevated piece of land overlooking the harbor towards Town, Pocomo (paw-Kuh-mo) is a welcoming retreat situated between the Polpis and Wauwinet neighborhoods. It is part of the inner bay, with shellfish-friendly waters on two sides. It’s shielded by Great Point and Coatue. Pocomo is an ideal spot to escape large crowds and discover one of the island’s hidden treasures. It is renowned for its oysters, kiteboarding, and windsurfing. On a breezy summer day, you will see kite boarders and windsurfers glide across the water. Rent a paddle board or kayak for the day, and head out to the west to explore the Creeks, a stunning and graceful stretch of shallow water paths. The beaches in this part of the island offer calm waters and sandbar, making them perfect for families and children. Pocomo Beach has no lifeguards or facilities and limited parking, but the warm, shallow waters provide for relaxing beach days filled with exploring and wading in the ocean. This coastline is located at the end of Pocomo Road, along a dirt road lined with large, upscale, and private homes.
