Welcome to Madequesham
Madequecham is located between the neighborhoods of Tom Nevers and Nobadeer on Nantucket's south-central coast, approximately 6 miles southeast of Town.
Madequecham (pronounced “Mad-uh-ka-sham”), also known as Madequecham Valley, is an ideal spot to unwind and reconnect with the island's natural beauty and charm. The area is rich in scrub oak, foliage, and untouched habitat, making it a popular location for Nantucket's large deer population. If you're seeking a tranquil, relaxing island getaway, this hidden gem is hard to beat. It's a great place to enjoy stunning views of both the sunrise and sunset. Madequecham Beach features stronger waves and currents, perfect for strong swimmers and surfers. The miles of quiet, uninterrupted beach provide a beautifully secluded seaside experience. It's an ideal spot for an afternoon of fishing, a walk with your dog, or a private picnic. There are no lifeguards or restrooms, and the beach is not easily accessible by bike path. Madequecham Valley and much of the adjacent Tom Nevers areas are owned and maintained by the Nantucket Conservation Foundation, a local nonprofit conservation organization dedicated to preserving Nantucket’s character by acquiring, maintaining, and protecting the island’s land, habitats, and natural resources.
